Inflation worries Muhith: No 'money whitening’ next fiscal

The Government yesterday ruled out any possibility to allow whitening to black money in the next fiscal year.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith made it clear that no more chances will be given to legalise undisclosed income in the next budget
"We don't want to allow any opportunity of whitening money in the next fiscal. But we have to consider prospective investors as well," the Minister said after a meeting with a delegation of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry at his secretariat office.

REHAB poll Mar 27: 'Jagoran’ promises resurgence of housing industry

Accountability, transparency and efficiency will be established in REHAB to make the association more acceptable to people and the government if 'Jagoran' panel wins in the upcoming Executive Council election.
The aim of the panel will be to enhance the image of Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) to both the government and the people and taking housing business further with the full support of the government
Mokarram Hossain Khan, Managing Director of Capita Land Developers and former president of the organisation, who is also leading the panel 'Jagoran,' said this while talking to The New Nation.

Astronaut Sunita accepts Islam

Sunita Williams, a US astronaut of Indian origin, who returned to the earth recently after197 days' stay on space station along with her other four crew members, has accepted Islam, according to unconfirmed sources.
Though her embracing Islam has not been officially declared, she and her fellow astronauts were astonished at Holy Kaaba and Masjid-e-Nabubi glowing in the dark.
Sources said, while taking photographs of earth from the spacecraft with the help of powerful telescope they found the complete earth dark except two places - Makkah and Madinah, two famous sites dear to the Muslims.

Opposition Chief Whip's microphone switched off: Acrimony marks JS debate

Parliament yesterday adopted a motion thanking the President for his address after prolonged discussion for over 44.5 hours. While 409 amendment proposals brought by five opposition lawmakers were rejected by voice vote.
Earlier, a total of 241 lawmakers both from the Treasury and the Opposition benches, including Prime Minister and Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina took part in the discussion on the thanks giving motion on President's address. Leader of the Opposition and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, however, remained absent from the session.
